Dr Auger of Crown Point Animal Hospital in Orleans gave permission for this email to be posted here
I finally got the official news. The Deslorelin implants now last for up to 2 years in ferrets. The company has started manufacturing more due to the high demand and so the cost has DECREASED.
The cost for implanting a ferret for adrenal gland disease is now $150 ( + tax). The ferret will require an exam prior to implanting if it has not been seen within 1 year.
Be advised that it may not last 2 years in some ferrets ( espescially with those with malignant adrenal cancer) but according to the research the majority do not need re-implantation for 24 months.
