Calling all volunteers!

On Saturday, October 20th, the Ferret Rescue Society of Ottawa and Area (FRSO) will be hosting its first "Ferret Spa Day", giving owners a chance to pamper their fuzzbuts and further support the FRSO.

Naturally, help from wonderful volunteers is always needed to make a community event successful. This is a great opportunity to meet/handle a number of ferrets and for High School students to earn community hours.

Tasks at hand for this event include: trimming nails; cleaning ears; brushing teeth; brushing coat and applying (dry) shampoo - nothing a ferret owner can't handle. And don't worry, supplies will be provided by the FRSO.

The spa will run from 1pm to 5pm in Barrhaven (2 Karendale St), where we held the West End ADV clinics.

Please let us know if you're available and willing to help us with this new venture!

Thank you.

Price List

Ear Treatment ( 5 minutes) ..................................... 3$
Offer your fuzzbut the best in ear care. With the use of a ferret ear cleaner (which promotes ear health and the prevention of ear mites) or mineral oil, our volunteer will wash away dirt and wax build-up from your ferret's ears.

Ear Mite Check ( 5 minutes) .................................... 3$
Most ferrets will have ear mites (Otodectes cynotes) at some time in their lives, no matter how often we clean their ears. By collecting some ear debris and examining it under a microscope, our volunteers can detect ear mites or even their eggs before they cause irritation.

Pawdicure ( 5 minutes) ........................................... 3$
Who doesn't like a manicure or pedicure? So why not offer your furry companion on as well? Let one of our volunteers trim those nails before they get snagged in their bedding.

Dental Treatment ( 5 minutes) ............................... 3$
Just like us, ferrets need to have their teeth brushed. Let a team of our volunteers gently brush the sides and bottoms of their teeth in an effort to maintain proper dental hygiene.

Furdo ( 10 minutes) ................................................ 3$
Since the fall shedding season is upon us, why not let one of our volunteers brush your ferret's coat? This is an important way to help prevent hairballs that could eventually cause blockages in their gastrointestinal tract.

Fur Conditioning ( 10 minutes) .............................. 5$
Keep your ferret's coat soft, shiny, and sweet smelling with this ultimate pampering for your companion! Using one of two (2) specially formulated instant/dry application shampoos, we will give your fuzzy a dry-bath that will gently loosen dirt, dissolve oils, and deodorize your ferret's skin and coat. And since it's a dry bath, we're not stripping your ferret's coat of its essential oils!

Continuing Health Consultation ( 10 minutes) ....... 5$
Ever wonder if you were performing a certain grooming task properly? Ever wonder if there was a little something extra you could do to maintain and/or even enhance the general health of your companion? Bring those questions with you while one of our volunteers takes a closer look at your friend and provides you with some basic care hints/tricks.

In addition, we are offering a flexible bundle. For every additional treatment purchased, we will deduct an extra 1$ on the total (see chart).

Any 2 services/treatments = 1$ off
Any 3 services/treatments = 2$ off
Any 4 services/treatments = 3$ off
Any 5 services/treatments = 4$ off
Any 6 services/treatments = 5$ off

Finally, for those who would like the whole thing, we have the "Total Health Package"

For 20$, this package includes all of the services/treatments offered. In addition, we will offer a complimentary serving of FerretLax and an application of either a cologne or body spritz during the "Continuing Health Consultation".

Once again, for each additional "Total Health Package" purchased, we are offering a discount: 10$ per additional ferret! That's right, 10$. (see chart)

1 "Total Health Package" : 20$
2 "Total Health Packages" : 30$
3 "Total Health Packages" : 40$
4 "Total Health Packages" : 50$

That's right, the more you buy, the more you'll save!

*** None of the services/treatments offered by our volunteers relieve you of the responsibility to see your veterinarian if you suspect that your ferret requires professional care and/or attention.

You've asked for it...  Now, it's here!

On Saturday, October 20th, the Ferret Rescue Society of Ottawa and Area (FRSO) will be hosting its first "Ferret Spa Day". Here's your chance to pamper your fuzzy companion(s) and further support the FRSO. The spa will run from 1pm to 5pm in Barrhaven (2 Karendale St.), where we held the West End ADV clinics.

Treatments offered include trimming your ferrets' nails, cleaning their ears and teeth, and ear mite checks. Furthermore, with the pending shedding season, why not offer your fuzzbut(s) a shampoo treatment and/or brushing of their coat?

We offer a "Total Health Package" which features our "Continuing Care Consultation" with an FRSO volunteer. As noted in the previous post, all treatments and packages are priced and offered individually and do offer discounts if you want to package multiple treatments and/or packages together.

Although appointments are not mandatory, we strongly advise that you contact us to book an appointment. This will enable us to set an appropriate amount of time for you and your companion(s) in an effort to reduce wait times.

When you contact us to book an appointment, please indicate how many ferrets you are bringing with you and which treatment and/or package you are interested. Should you have any time restrictions, please indicate your preferred time and we will do our best to accommodate. To book your appointment, you may simply send a PM to Viper or call the FRSO. As time permits, one of our volunteers will then contact you in order to set the time of your appointment. NOTE: In an effort expedite the process; please ensure that we have a phone number where we can reach you.

As always, all proceeds gathered go directly to the FRSO in order to help to pay ever mounting vet bills. As with past FRSO events, please note that all ferrets attending this event must have received a negative ADV test result within the past year. We will have a limited number of ADV saliva quick tests on hand for those ferrets that weren't tested within the past year. The cost is 15$ per test and we strongly encourage that they be reserved in advance in order to avoid disappointment.

On behalf of the FRSO and all of its ferrets, we thank you in advance for your continuing support.
