Sad news of both Mocha and Skyler the same morning in February.

Mocha has been frail in the last several months.  He had cancer in his adrenals (Lupron treatments kept him comfortable), pancreas (pediapred gave him almost a half year of regained weight and much friskiness), plus in January and February, he was fighting an infection on antibiotics.  Alas, although his mind and attention were bright, his body gave out one morning in mid-February.  His hind legs wouldn't support him, his tummy would not support even duck soup, and he refused even the delicious medicine.  Later that morning, he went gently, thanks to a few puffs of anaesthetic.

That very same morning, Skyler developed a urine blockage.  Fortunately, he was only in puzzled discomfort and not in pain.  He was examined (and relieved right away), but his prostate was found to be so enlarged that only invasive surgery would help, to only a very temporary effect.  He too, thanks to gentle hands and the magic puffer, went quietly that same morning.

Both were calm, being together with their lifelong cagemate, and neither were in distress or pain.

Sorry to hear about Mocha and Skyler.  Sad It's bad enough to lose one ferret, let alone two at the same time...

Some more bad news I'm afraid.  Buster crossed the rainbow bridge tonight.  On the weekend, he had noticeable hind end weakness. Over the course of the next 3 days he went from being wobbly when he ran to being completely unable to use his hind legs.  We'll never know what caused it - only that it was neurological and it was progressing rapidly.  Not to mention he had a very large right adrenal tumor, a pronounced heart murmur, an extremely fast heart rate and a rapidly decreasing appetite.  There was no chance of recovery. so we helped him cross the bridge peacefully.  I'm going to miss watching him moving the jingle balls around, his cute black nose and his super soft fur.
